Circa 1815-1817 they moved to Athens Co., Ohio where their daughter Malvina was born. They remained in Athens Co. for one year, moving to Franklin Co. for one year (Source: Andy Miller). Genealogy of the Tompkins Family. Moved from Newark, NJ, to New York; in 1816 moved to Athens County, Ohio; then to Marion County, Ohio. His son Luther Dean ran away at age 15 and is said to have joined the army at Fort Meggs (Meigs? Keggs?) Indian Territory and was killed by Indians.
