- Mary Jean went to Catholic schools most of her school years. She married Charles Kingsley and became Catholic. Aunt Dorothy was furious (and the rest of the family thought Dorothy's attitude was awful). She wouldn't attend Mary Jean's wedding, and Uncle George (Sallys father) gave her away. Grandma and Grandpa Curtiss were there; and our family would have been there if it had been possible. We all loved Mary Jean, and my mother was wonderful to her.
